Voluntary Social Media Manager
Voluntary Social Media Manager for The Harpenden Guide

We're looking for a Voluntary Social Media Manager to get involved in supporting The Harpenden Guide.
This is a great opportunity for a small social media business looking to raise it's profile and put something back into the local community, and get a great case study too, or a social media student looking to get some CV experience as well.
The Harpenden Guide is a unique not-for-profit community initiative designed to support local people and businesses through our vibrant community mobile app.
We're all about connecting our Harpenden community, making it easier for residents to discover local activities and events, local businesses, services and things to do in Harpenden.
The Role: Voluntary Social Media Manager
Are you a social media whizz looking to make a real difference in your community? Or perhaps you're starting out in the social media business and need a fantastic case study to showcase your skills?
We have the perfect opportunity for you!
We're on the hunt for a passionate and savvy volunteer to manage our social media presence across Twitter (X), Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. You'll also get to flex your writing muscles by managing our blog on the website too.
This role is ideal for someone with a flair for creating engaging content and a keen interest in supporting local communities.
What You'll Be Doing...
- Social Media Management: Create, schedule, and post content across our social media platforms using tools like Hootsuite.
- Content Creation: Develop and curate engaging content that highlights local businesses, events, and community stories.
- Community Engagement: Interact with our followers, respond to comments, and foster a sense of community online.
- Blog Management: Write and publish blog posts that promote and support local causes and keep our audience informed and engaged.
- Analytics: Monitor and report on social media performance, helping us understand what's working and what needs tweaking.
Who We're Looking For...
- Social Media Enthusiasts: Whether you're a student, a budding social media professional, or simply someone with a passion for connecting people online, we want to hear from you!
- Creativity and Flair: If you have a knack for crafting compelling content and a good eye for visuals, you'll fit right in.
- Community Spirit: An understanding of Harpenden and our local community is a plus, but not essential. What's important is your enthusiasm for supporting local initiatives.
- Tech-Savvy: Experience with Hootsuite or similar tools would be advantageous, but we're happy to provide training.
- Commitment: There's no set time commitment for this, but it's probably around a 2-3 hours a month to suit your schedule. We're completely flexible and appreciate any time you can offer.
What's In It for You?
- Experience: Gain valuable experience managing social media for a community-focused initiative.
- Portfolio: Build a strong case study to add to your CV or business portfolio.
- Training: Receive full training and ongoing support.
- Community Impact: Make a tangible difference in your local community.
- Expenses: Out-of-pocket expenses will be covered.
